Scholarship Recipient Named

The Gasaway Consulting Group is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2010 Emerging Leader Scholarship is Fire Chief
Scott Brewer of the Tammany Parish Fire District #9 in Bush, Louisiana.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide an exceptional education opportunity to a fire service leader to attend the
International Association of Fire Chiefs Volunteer & Combination Officer’s Section Symposium in Clearwater Beach, Florida in
November.

The Scholarship is sponsored by The Gasaway Consulting Group, an emergency services safety and leadership training and
consulting firm located in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Group’s founder and CEO, Dr. Richard B. Gasaway noted, “We had a number
of very qualified candidates making the selection of just one recipient very difficult. However, Chief Brewer was a standout among
his peers and I am delighted he was chosen by the committee to receive this scholarship.”

The scholarship includes a complimentary registration to the Symposium and a $1,500 cash award to offset the recipient’s travel
expenses.

The annual Symposium brings together over 500 leaders from around the country to address common issues facing volunteer and
combination fire departments.

Scholarships

The Gasaway Consulting Group supports the development of future fire service leaders by offering scholarship opportunities for
young men and women, ages 14 through 20 who are affiliated with a fire, EMS, police, or emergency management organization.

Scholarships are awarded for tuition to attend Gasaway Consulting Group programs.

To be eligible, the applicant must be:

1. Enrolled in a Fire Exploring program, or

2. A member of a Junior Firefighter Program, or

3. Enrolled as a college student.

To apply, applicants must send an email stating why they need a scholarship and why they want to attend the program. The e-mail
