Gasaway and Kline are now developing a program to help fire and police chiefs, unions and fire department associations answer the questions and prepare to counter the issues being raised by the ICMA. Dr. Gasaway's observation about the program: "I think there is a new reality that public safety agencies are facing as a result of economic pressures on communities and elected officials. The presenters of this particular program appeared to have a great bias against police and fire departments and they certainly didn't let the truth get in the way of telling the audience stories that were designed to evoke emotions of fear and anger. Overall, I was pretty disappointed but it certainly allowed me to see, first hand, that public safety agencies need to be ready when the ICMA consultants come marching in." ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ June 9, 2011: Fire Chief Richard B.
